Tournament History
The idea of organizing a large international youth handball tournament was born shortly after the Velvet Revolution in 1989. Suddenly, there were opportunities to travel around Europe and participate in similar events, but also to organize such a tournament in the Czech Republic. And that is how the story of the Prague Handball Cup began. A group of enthusiasts, despite little experience, but with huge passion, started to make their dream come true.
Already the first edition in 1992 welcomed 92 teams from 10 countries and the great feedback motivated us to continue. Ideal date, quality organization and the beautiful city of Prague became the pillars of success on which the tournament still stands today. Thanks to them, now the Prague Handball Cup is more than seven times bigger than when it started.
